Crabs and Home Stones


Yesterday I added a new creature to the game.

The Crab.

It is very tough.

There is no real reward for beating it.

I also added special abilities, starting with the Infect special ability of the mummy.

When the mummy attacks you, it might infect you, which will cause a number of turns to have to deal with the infection.

Infection naturally has a chance of reducing yer character's health and killing yer character.

I also made a small organizational change to the code that would not be at all visible from the player of a game.

Originally, this game allowed a player to have multiple characters and make multiple dungeons, and have the characters go to whichever dungeon they wished to.

When I retooled this game for one character per player at a time, a lot of the older structure remained.

I now REQUIRE a character have a location.

Which unfortunately means that when you successfully bribe a character, that character is destroyed like it would have been if you had killed it in combat.

So, it goes.

The final thing I added this time was Home Stones.

It is possible to navigate the overworld by writing down locations and tracking which way yer facing, but it is quite difficult to do, and I don't expect many players to want that level of inconvenience.

So I am making a way to ease that problem with... Home Stones.

You can place a Home Stone on any location that you own.

Now that I can place Home Stones, I can make the Home Scroll item, which, when used, will take a character back to one of its home stones.

Yes, one of its home stones.

I am not limiting the character to only having one.

If you really want to, have 100 home stones. The home scrolls won't care. They will randomly transport you to one of them.

Or the will tomorrow, once I make that bit.
